2023-2024 Land Rover Evoque Top 3 Electrical Problems Summary
- Battery Drain Problems
- Infotainment System Glitches
- Dashboard Warning Lights
1. Battery Drain Problems
Battery drain is one of the most commonly reported issues with the 2023-2024 Land Rover Evoque. It is not uncommon for owners to discover that their vehicles cannot start after being idle for a few days.
A number of factors can contribute to this issue, such as faulty wiring, malfunctioning alternators, or even parasitic drains from electronic devices.
Solution: Check for any obvious electrical devices that are drawing power from the battery when the vehicle is off in order to diagnose and fix battery drain issues. In the event that the problem persists, a professional diagnostic test can help diagnose faulty wiring or alternator issues. Regular driving can also help maintain the battery’s charge.
Special Service Message: Land Rover has issued a Special Service Message Number: N846v2 to address the 2023 Land Rover Evoque battery drain problems.
DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE:
On certain 2023 and 2024 model year Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) Range Rover, Discovery and Defender vehicles the Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) goes into fail safe mode on first startup, resulting in no charging of the 48V and 12V battery. The SGCM needs to be updated to enhance the software and prevent the BISG from going into fail safe mode.
Complaints: Numerous owners have reported Evoque battery problems online. Here is a battery drain complaint from a Land Rover Evoque to EvoqueForum:
Hi everyone – I have a Evoque which was bought when brand new. It is now c 14 months old with 10000 miles on the clock. About 4 weeks ago I went to start the car and it was dead, with the exception of the rear tail lights which were on and flickering (had to use the key to manually open the car, a few dash lights were also flickering). Landrover assist towed it to the garage and they replaced the battery. 4 days later the same thing happened again, towed again and the Landrover garage did a full software reset and said it was the software (each time it has been in the garage for a week whilst they “did full diagnostics to factory standards”
2. Infotainment System Glitches
The 2023-2024 Evoque infotainment system, while advanced, is prone to glitches. Users have reported issues such as the system freezing, unresponsive touchscreens, and problems with Bluetooth connectivity. These glitches can significantly impact the driving experience, especially when the navigation system or music playback is affected.
Solution: For minor glitches, a system reset often resolves the issue. This can typically be done by holding down the power button on the infotainment unit until it restarts. If problems persist, software updates from Land Rover can repair known problems. For more severe issues, visiting a dealership for a thorough check is advisable.
Complaints: Just read this radio complaint from a 2023 Evoque owner on Reddit:
Does anyone else have this problem? I got a new 2023 evoque and since the day i got it out new from the dealership, every time I’m locking the car and open it, the radio presets i stored is gone and the radio is turning on with the 88.3 fm. Land Rover said they said its a common fault and they know about it and they cant fix it. They say somewhen a software update should fix it. I update every update they released and still all is erase while i turn car off. 9 months. Its frustrating.

3. Dashboard Warning Lights
Dashboard warning lights on the 2023-2024 Land Rover Evoque are essential for vehicle maintenance, but false alarms can create unnecessary stress and repairs.
Evoque owners have reported that warning lights for braking problems, engine problems, and other system alerts have activated. An electrical system error or sensor malfunction can cause false alarms.
Complaints: Here is a complaint to NHTSA from a Evoque owner from Texas to NHTSA:
I purchased a Evoque as a certified preowned vehicle. Only a few days after the delivery, the car had to be towed back to the dealership due to multiple error messages that caused the vehicle to shift into Neutral on its own, and it did not allow changing gears after that — it was not possible to move the vehicle. Check engine light also came on. Errors displayed were; “Emergency Braking and Lane Assistance not available”, “OK to drive with caution Suspension fault detected”. The dealership reported the vehicle was “dead” on arrival, and they said they had to replace a sensor module, which was found faulty. The car was delivered back to me as “fixed”. However, I started to get the same messages again about a week later with additional errors of “Hill Descent Control not available”, “ATPC not available”, “OK to drive with caution Stability control not available”, and “Driver Assistance features not available” messages.
