The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the transmission shifter failed to shift from park. The contact stated that the “Braking System”, Brake Pad Monitor, and Traction Control messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer.   • You gave the manufacturer or its authorized dealer three opportunities to repair the nonconformity, or the vehicle was out of service for over 30 days.

New York Lemon Law

Under the New York Lemon Law a car may be declared a lemon if it meets all of the following conditions:

  • It has a defect, or condition that is covered by the manufacturer’s express warranty
  • The defect, or condition substantially impairs the use, market value, or safety of the car
  • You gave the manufacturer or its authorized dealer 4 opportunities to repair the defect or condition within 24 months of purchase or within 18,000 miles whichever comes first.

New Jersey Lemon Law

Under the New Jersey Lemon Law a car may be declared a lemon if it meets all of the following conditions:

  • It has a defect, or condition that is covered by the manufacturer’s express warranty
  • The defect, or condition substantially impairs the use, market value, or safety of the car
  • You gave the manufacturer or its authorized dealer 3 opportunities to repair the defect or condition within 24 months of purchase or within 24,000 miles whichever comes first.

Hawaii Lemon Law

Under the Hawaii Lemon Law your car may be declared a lemon if it meets all the following conditions:

  • It has a nonconformity (a defect, or condition) which is covered by the manufacturer’s express warranty
  • The nonconformity SUBSTANTIALLY impairs the use, market value, or safety of the car
  • The vehicle was subject to 3 or more repairs within the Lemon Law rights period of 2 years or 24,000 miles whichever comes first., or
  • The vehicle was subject to 1 repair for a condition that could cause a serious bodily injury within the lemon law rights period, or
  • The vehicle remains inoperable or out of service for 30 days or more during the lemon law rights period of 2 years or 24,000 miles whichever comes first.
  • You sent written notification (Hawaii Lemon Law Letter) to the manufacturer (not the dealer) of the nonconformity during the Lemon Law Rights Period.
