Read this 2022 Lincoln Aviator rear-camera complaint to NHTSA

The vehicle (2022 Lincoln Aviator) back up camera and computer screen went totally dark and would not come back on, so that when I backed out of the garage, I could not see on the rear side of the vehicle, as to any pedestrians walking across my driveway , beside nor behind my vehicle. I drove the vehicle back into the garage and ran my errand in our other car. When I came back from the errand, I tried to get the screen up again, by starting the car, and the HOME page came on the screen, and when I put the vehicle in reverse, it once again, showed the rear view of the driveway and cross way, to see that there was no pedestrian behind me; putting any neighbor child who ran across my drive while the garage walls blocked them from my view, in danger.

Another 2021 Aviator owner reports the following rear-view camera problem to NHTSA:

It has been almost a half year and still no solution for backup camera that shows blue screen. It is happening more and more. It is a big vehicle (and expensive one) . When backing up, one is at a great disadvantage with just a blue screen. You cannot see people or other objects. Car dealership says they do not know when it will be rectified. I think Ford/Lincoln is dragging their feet, using COVID as an excuse.

The rear-view complaints continue with another report by a 2023 Aviator owner to Edmunds:

Beautiful car, love the interior, drives very smooth….overall piece of crap other than actual aesthetics. Navigation screen goes black, can’t connect. Radio acts as if the battery died and looses all presets, phone as a key NEVER works. I’ve now done a factory reset on the system and had to completely set everything back up. Went to reset the Phone as a key and now it won’t even read my phone and sync it to the car at all.

Aviator Rear-View Camera Recall

According to Reuters, the recall covers 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Explorer and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with 360-degree cameras, following 17 minor crashes and over 2,100 warranty claims, although there have been no injuries reported.

Additionally, the recall expands upon a 2021 recall of 228,000 vehicles, requiring dealers to update the image processing module software on affected vehicles, including those previously serviced.
