Class Action Law Suit Filed Against GM for the 8 Speed Transmission

A class action lawsuit for the GM defective 8 speed transmission was recently filed and includes the following GM vehicles.

The GM transmission class action lawsuit, Francis et al vs. General Motors, LLC was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. This suit alleges that GM manufactured a defective 8 speed transmission causing long term damage and a serious risk of harm to the drivers.

Class Action Points to Defect in the GM 8 Speed Transmission

The law suit targets certain “internal issues” coming from the defective torque converters in the defective GM 8.  The defective torque poses a serious safety concern. Excessive friction between the transmission parts results in premature wear with metal shavings circulating throughout the transmission. Metal shavings can affect the transmission gears, and result in a hard shifting, jerking or shuddering.  GM has tried to fix the problems by issuing many technical service bulletins and service updates.
