Recall Solution Details

Audi Q8 e-tron owners are advised to refrain from using the 220V/240V compact charging cable and opt for the 110V home charging cable or public charging stations until the issue is resolved.

Audi dealerships will provide the updated charging cable free of charge. Interim notifications will be sent to owners explaining the safety risk, with expected mailings starting on February 9, 2024.

Audi e-tron Recall Repair

Dealerships will replace the 220V/240V cable and plug, free of charge. The replacement will have a temperature sensor that can detect overheating. The recall follows a service campaign in which dealers changed the charger’s settings.

According to documents provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, only the 220V/240V compact/portable charging cable is recalled, not the 110V home charging cable or the vehicle itself.

A spokesperson from Audi told Consumer Reports that it’s still safe to plug into a 220V/240V home wall charger or public charger, as long as the portable charger isn’t used.

According to Consumer Reports, Audi has reported there have been 615 warranty claims and there have been no fires or injuries related to this recall.
