Ford Bronco Roof Water Leak Complaints Flood NHTSA

Numerous 2021 Ford Bronco owners are complaining about defective roofs and water leaks. Specifically, Bronco owners have reported 2 roof problems with the Bronco Roof:

  • Headliners are separating from the roof of the Bronco.
  • Water leaks from the passenger side of the Bronco roof.

According to the Detroit News, Ford has also sent a letter to all Bronco owners alerting them as to the roof problems in both the two and four door Broncos and informing owners it “will replace hardtop roofs on all Bronco SUVs due to quality issues” at no cost to the owners.

Ford is aware of the water leak problems with the Bronco roof and issued a technical service bulletin, Water Leak From A-Pillars And/Or Windshield Header on 15 November 2021.

According to the Ford Bronco Roof Water Leak bulletin “Some 2021 Bronco vehicles may experience a water leak that originates from the left and/or right A-Pillars and/or the windshield header. This may be due to excessive gaps in the body seams from the factory.   Ford advises owners of Broncos with water leaks in roof to return to the dealer for a repair to seal the body seam with 3m strip caulk, and replace the header seal.
