Honda CR-V Oil Dilution Problems

By 1-800-MY-LEMON, David J. Gorberg and Associates – The Lemon Law Lawyers

Owners of 2017 and 2018 Honda CR-Vs have reported increased oil levels (over filling of oil on dip stick), strong gas odor and/or check engine lights and loss of power. The defects are related to an oil dilution defect currently affecting the 1.5 L turbo Honda CRV across New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well as other states.

The oil dilution defect, causing the increased oil levels and strong gas smell is due to an incomplete engine combustion resulting in gas getting into the crankcase and mixing with the oil.

The increase of oil level is destructive to the engine and can result in a total engine failure or premature wearing of parts, shortening the life of the car. The mixing of gas with the oil results in a loss of lubrication due to the gas washing off the oil in the various engine parts.
