
Hawaii Lemon Law Win – 2023 Chevy Colorado January 22, 2025
January 22, 2025 – A Kapolei, Hawaii resident, who owned a 2023 Chevy Colorado with a defective engine of misfiring and having difficulty going up a hill, won a full Hawaii Lemon Law refund of $51,704.93 by the State of Hawaii’s Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
Despite the 2023 Chevy Colorado have multiple repairs and out of service for more than 135 days GM refused to repurchase the it.

Within the Lemon Law Rights Period, the vehicle was out of service by reason of repair by the manufacturer, its agents, distributors, or authorized dealers for one or more alleged nonconformities for a cumulative total of thirty or more business days. (HRS 481I-3(d)(3)) If any, identify which nonconformities were included in this total number of days: vehicle’s engine misfiring and having difficulty going uphill.
The Manufacturer shall repurchase the Consumer’s vehicle and provide a refund to the Consumer…within 30 days of receipt of this Decision.
The Lemon Law Repurchase award included sales taxes, dealer doc fees, floor mats, rental charges, and various other fees such as vehicle title, and registration fees.
In addition to the Hawaii Lemon Law Refund award, the arbitrator awarded all attorney fees and costs to be paid by Chevrolet.
Under Hawaii lemon law SCAP rules, refunds must be issued within 30 days following the date of the decision by the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, through the State Certified Arbitration Program (SCAP).
