The 2024 XC40 is my second new Volvo…Handbrake cannot hold car comes up occasionally. As it does it when you first start car it obviously has not been an issue or car would have rolled backward. Garage could not find a fault

I have had a number of issues with the brakes on my late (Volvo) XC40 the latest being the automatic handbrake failing to engage when I turned the ignition off, I managed to catch the car with the footbrake, and I checked to see if the ‘tick box’ was still showing the indication mark for it to be on automatically, it was not, I had not cancelled it in the first.

Volvo XC40 Collision Avoidance Problems

Volvo is aware of the brake problems with the 2024 XC40 and has issued a recall in prior models.

According to the Volvo Brake Recall NHTSA Number: 23V012000:  A diagnostic error in the (Volvo XC40) Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) may cause a loss of Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control.

The Volvo XC40 has been plagued with electrical problems for years, and the 2024 Volvo XC40 is no exception.

My brand new 2024 XC40 shows this screen. Blinkers, wipers, horn, and many other things are not working. Got similar error messages prior to recent software updates. Now this is post software update.
